Lucknow: Google Maps Mishap Leads Biker into Well, Police Rescue Him in Time

Lucknow, January 23, 2026: A young man on his way home in Lucknow had a narrow escape after following Google Maps, which inadvertently guided him into a well. The quick response of the police prevented a potential tragedy.

The incident occurred late Wednesday night on the Nagaram-Khujouli route. According to Nagaram SHO Vivek Chaudhary, 25-year-old Ritesh Jaiswal of AVM Colony, Arjunganj, was riding his bike towards his village Bhawanigarh in Shivgarh, Raebareli district. At a bend on the route, he lost balance and his bike veered off the road, crashing into the wall of a nearby well. Ritesh fell into the well, leaving him trapped.

A police patrol noticed a bike abandoned by the roadside near Haswa Pul and heard cries of “Help! Help!” coming from the well. They rushed to the spot and rescued Ritesh safely. The bike and other evidence were secured by the police.

This incident serves as a reminder that while navigation apps like Google Maps are convenient, riders and drivers must exercise caution, particularly in unfamiliar or rural areas.
