Lok Sabha Speaker Warns MPs: “Take Your Conversations Outside the Chamber”

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday issued a stern warning to MPs who were continuously engaging in side conversations during Question Hour, emphasizing that such behavior disrupts parliamentary proceedings and undermines the dignity of the House.

Observing members from both sides of the House talking amongst themselves, the Speaker told them that while brief discussions are permissible, extended conversations are not. “If you want to have long discussions, please step out of the Lok Sabha chamber,” he said.

Warning to KC Venugopal
Speaker Birla also specifically advised Congress MP KC Venugopal to reduce his conversations with fellow members. He cautioned that going forward, the names of MPs who disrupt proceedings through extended side talks will be recorded.

Parliamentary Schedule Update
Following the completion of Question Hour and the presentation of the Economic Survey, the Speaker adjourned the House until 11 a.m. on February 1. On that day, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget for 2026–27.

With this strict message, the Lok Sabha leadership has reiterated the importance of maintaining order and decorum during parliamentary sessions.
