
Patna, Bihar: The Bihar Assembly Election 2025 results are being declared today, 14 November. Across the state, counting is underway following two phases of polling on 243 assembly seats. One seat under close scrutiny is Lalganj in Vaishali district, where a direct contest is unfolding between the Mahagathbandhan (RJD-led alliance) and NDA (BJP-led alliance).

- 8:00 AM: Voting across all Vaishali district seats began counting under strict security at 8:00 AM. Postal ballot counting was completed in about half an hour, followed by EVM tallying.

About Shivani Shukla
Shivani Shukla, 29, holds a law degree from London and made her political debut during this election. She is the daughter of three-time MLA and influential strongman Munna Shukla, who is currently serving a sentence in the Brij Bihari Prasad murder case. Shivani’s mother, Annu Shukla, has also served as an MLA.
The decision to field Shivani is seen as an effort by the Shukla family to pass on a political legacy, keeping their influence alive in Lalganj. Shivani is in a direct contest with the incumbent BJP MLA Sanjay Kumar Singh, who is striving for a consecutive term.
Historical Context
Since its delimitation in 1967, Lalganj has witnessed 14 assembly elections. Congress has won 4 times, JD, JD(U), and LJP(R) twice each, while Democratic Congress, Janata Party, and BJP once each. The seat was first captured by BJP in 2020.
