KRK Apologizes for Fake Post Targeting CM Yogi Adityanath; FIR Filed in Lucknow

Lucknow: Film critic Kamaal R. Khan, popularly known as KRK, has apologized after posting fake news on his X (formerly Twitter) account targeting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The post, which included CM Yogi’s photo and a screenshot of Navbharat Times (NBT), was deemed misleading and an FIR was registered against him at Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow.

KRK Issues Apology
Following the FIR, KRK deleted the controversial post and issued an apology to CM Yogi Adityanath. In his apology, he tagged the Chief Minister, UP Government, and UP Police, stating:
“When I realized this was fake news, I deleted the post shortly after. I will try to be more careful in the future.”

The Fake Post
The post in question falsely attributed a statement to CM Yogi Adityanath, which he never made. It claimed:
“Sir, even if no one votes for you, you will still win, everyone knows that. @ECISVEEP Zindabad.”

Alongside this, the post featured CM Yogi’s photograph and a screenshot of NBT newspaper, with an additional false caption suggesting:
“Even if we don’t get votes from Muslims, Dalits, or Yadavs, we will still form the government.”

FIR Filed by Rajkumar Tiwari
The FIR was lodged by Rajkumar Tiwari, a resident of Narahi, who alleged that KRK had intentionally used the CM’s photo and a newspaper screenshot to spread false information and tarnish the image of CM Yogi on social media. Tiwari wrote in his complaint:
“Posting such fabricated claims using respected Maharaj ji’s photo and a reputed newspaper’s screenshot is highly condemnable. Seeing such false content has caused widespread anger in our Hindu community.”

The Hazratganj Police have registered the case under relevant sections of the law and are investigating the matter.
