Jaipur, Rajasthan: A major crackdown is underway in Rajasthan over the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scam that took place during the previous Congress government’s tenure. Senior IAS officer Subodh Agrawal, along with around 170 other officers and employees, is now under investigation, as the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has put its Special Investigation Team (SIT) into action.
Action Intensifies
Recently, the state government granted permission to file corruption cases against several officials, including Subodh Agrawal, who is set to retire this month. Remarkably, the approval came just 21 days before his retirement. The ACB had sought permission to proceed against eight officers, of which six were cleared by the state government, including the senior IAS officer. This move has escalated pressure on the accused.
SIT Launches Investigation
Following the government’s approval, the ACB formed a Special Investigation Team under Mahavir Singh, which immediately began a thorough inquiry. Two days ago, raids were conducted at the Water Resources Department, where key documents linked to the scam were seized. After technical verification, the ACB plans to summon the implicated officers, including Subodh Agrawal, for questioning.
Other Accused Officers
The scam involves a long list of officers and employees across various designations. Some of the key accused include:
- Chief Engineers & Executive Engineers: Dinesh Goyal, RK Meena, KD Gupta, Jitendra Sharma, Sanjay Agrawal, Dalip Gaur
- Superintending & Assistant Engineers: Ramesh Chand Meena, Paritosh Gupta, Niril Kumar, Vikas Gupta, Bhawan Sahay Jaju, Sushil Sharma, Arun Srivastava, MP Soni, Shubanshu Dixit
- Other Officers: ACE Niril Kumar, ACE Paritosh Gupta, SE Vikas Gupta, SE Bhawan Sahay Jaju, FA Sushil Sharma
Additionally, numerous AE (Assistant Engineers), XE (Executive Engineers), and other department staff are listed as accused. While these officials are implicated, no charge sheets have been filed against the senior IAS and certain other top officers yet.
ACB Action Expected Soon
The SIT continues to scrutinize documents, conduct interrogations, and trace financial irregularities linked to the Jal Jeevan Mission project. Authorities indicate that further action could follow in the coming weeks as investigations deepen.
