JDU Takes Firm Stand on NEET Student’s Death, Says Perpetrators Will Not Be Spared

Patna: The death of a minor NEET aspirant at Shambhu Girls’ Hostel in Patna and alleged lapses in the police investigation have sparked widespread protests. In response, the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) has clarified that the culprits involved in the case will not be spared under any circumstances. The Bihar government has also recommended that the investigation be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

CBI Investigation Sought
JDU national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad stated that law enforcement agencies in the state will take strict action against any criminal activity. He emphasized that public demand for a CBI probe into the case has been growing, prompting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to request the central government to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.

Assurance of Strict Punishment
Prasad further added, “Our stance is clear. Any crime in the state will be dealt with decisively. Those responsible will be punished and sent to jail. The sentiments of those raising concerns have been respected, and justice will be served.”

State Government Steps
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary confirmed that the CM has formally requested the central government to hand over the investigation to the CBI. The state government has emphasized that the probe must be impartial and transparent. BJP leader and minister Dilip Jaiswal added that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has already been constituted to conduct a thorough investigation, and the request for a CBI probe was made in response to the family’s demand.

Allegations of Sexual Assault
Police reports indicate that the student passed away during treatment. While allegations of sexual assault surfaced, officials stated that medical examinations did not confirm any sexual or forced physical abuse. However, procedural lapses in the investigation led to the suspension of two police officers. The SIT continues its inquiry, which is expected to be handed over to the CBI soon.

Protests and Public Outcry
The incident has triggered massive protests in Patna. Students from higher education institutions, parents, and citizens have staged demonstrations outside Shambhu Girls’ Hostel, accusing the administration of failing to cooperate in the investigation.
