To Receive ₹2 Crore Award for Excellence in Rainwater Conservation**
Barmer/Delhi: Celebrated IAS officer Tina Dabi is once again in the spotlight. The Barmer District Administration, under her leadership, has been selected for the First National Water Harvesting Public Participation Award at the national level. The honour will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu on 18 November 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Along with the award, the district will receive a cash prize of ₹2 crore.
National Recognition for Barmer’s Water Conservation Model
Barmer district has earned the top award for its outstanding performance in rainwater harvesting and community participation. The initiative marks a significant achievement for one of Rajasthan’s most water-scarce regions.
The award acknowledges the district’s success in implementing large-scale rainwater conservation structures and mobilising local communities, a drive overseen by Tina Dabi as District Collector.
‘Catch the Rain’ Campaign Transforms Barmer
To address chronic water shortages, the administration launched the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign, focusing on large-scale construction of tanka (traditional water storage structures).
This innovative model has now earned national appreciation for its effectiveness.
According to IAS Tina Dabi, the initiative has ensured that villagers now receive 3–4 months of potable water, whereas earlier most rainwater simply flowed away without being collected.
A Career Marked by Awards and Excellence
This is not the first time Tina Dabi has been honoured for exemplary public service. She has previously received:
- President’s Gold Medal
- National Voters’ Day Award
- Several other recognitions for administrative excellence and public welfare initiatives
Her sustained efforts in Rajasthan—particularly in drought-prone regions—have placed her among the most impactful young administrators in the country.
