Mau: Newly appointed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Uttar Pradesh President Pankaj Chaudhary on Thursday asserted that the party would form the government in the state with a thumping majority in the 2027 Assembly elections, banking on the strength and dedication of party workers.
As part of his statewide tour, Chaudhary visited Mau district, a politically significant region ahead of the upcoming by-election before the 2027 polls. He travelled through Dohrighat, Amila, Ghosi, Kopaganj and Bhujauti Nagar, before proceeding towards Varanasi via Ghazipur Tiraha. Preparations for his welcome were seen at several locations along the route.
The reception at the city’s selfie point was personally overseen by State Energy and Urban Development Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma, highlighting the importance of the visit.
“Workers Are the Backbone of the Party”
Addressing party workers, Pankaj Chaudhary said, “I am a worker-based leader and I understand the sentiments and strength of party workers. The central leadership has placed its trust in me, and I assure them that with the support of these very workers, BJP will form a government with a massive mandate in Uttar Pradesh in 2027.”
Commitment to a Mafia-Free Mau
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma said that just as Pankaj Chaudhary had eliminated muscle power, criminal influence and mafia rule in his home region of Maharajganj, similar efforts would be made to make Mau completely mafia-free.
He added, “Under the Yogi Adityanath government, major criminal networks have already been dismantled. Only a few remnants remain, which will also be uprooted to establish complete rule of law in Mau and across the state.”
Attack on Opposition Over Voter List Issue
Reacting to concerns over deletion of names during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, Sharma directly targeted the opposition. He alleged that opposition parties were attempting to mislead the public by claiming that genuine voters’ names were being removed, while illegal immigrants such as Bangladeshis and Rohingyas were being added.
“The opposition wants to damage the government’s image. We are fully committed to ensuring that no eligible voter’s name is deleted from the electoral rolls,” he said.
The visit reinforced BJP’s organisational focus on strengthening its grassroots network ahead of the crucial electoral battles in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
