Hurting Someone’s Heart Is Violence Too, Denying Rights Is Unrighteous: Vasundhara Raje

Jaipur, Rajasthan: Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has emphasized that violence is not limited to physical harm—hurting someone’s heart also constitutes violence. Speaking at the Acharya Mahashraman Maryada Festival in Didwana, she stressed the importance of Jain principles, morality, and non-violence in everyday life and politics.

Highlights:

  • Vasundhara Raje calls emotional harm a form of violence.
  • Comments on ethics and politics during Didwana event.
  • Denying someone’s rights is a form of unrighteousness (adharma).

Jainism Teaches Compassion and Non-Violence
Addressing the gathering in Chhoti Khatu, Raje highlighted that Jainism advocates compassion and empathy toward all living beings. She said that injustice, depriving someone of their rights, or hurting another person emotionally is as unethical as physical violence. “Violence is not only physical; causing mental suffering is equally wrong,” she noted.

Following the Values Instilled by Rajmata
The former CM shared that the values instilled by Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia have guided her life: never to hurt anyone’s feelings. “I strive to follow her path, and this forms the foundation of my life. Even in politics, it is essential to maintain human sensitivity,” she added.

Importance of Spiritual Reflection Amid Busy Lives
Raje also remarked on the fast-paced nature of modern life, urging people to take a moment to remember God and reflect on themselves. “Even a little self-reflection can help overcome many challenges, and spirituality brings balance to life,” she said.

Emphasis on Ethics and Abstinence from Intoxicants
On the occasion, Yugpradhan Acharya Mahashraman underscored the importance of ethics, goodwill, and abstinence in an individual’s life. He praised Raje as a cultured and values-driven leader, noting that she does not use a chair or seat in front of saints, reflecting her humility and upbringing. The Mahashraman Maryada Festival Committee honored the former Chief Minister, and the event was attended by a large number of devotees and members of society.
