Haryana Begins Special Intensive Revision of Voter Lists Ahead of Upcoming Elections

Faridabad, Haryana: The Election Commission has ramped up preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists across Haryana. All Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been assigned the crucial task of cross-verifying old electoral records with current voter lists to ensure accuracy, eliminate discrepancies, remove ineligible entries, and include newly eligible voters.

Voter List Verification in Full Swing

In Faridabad district, verification is actively underway across all six assembly constituencies. Teams of election law officers, supervisors, and BLOs are conducting door-to-door checks and reviewing booth-wise documents. Officials revealed that voter lists dating back to 2002 have been compared with the 2024 lists. Any names that do not match or whose information is unclear are being compiled into a separate list for further verification.

Instructions to BLOs

BLOs have been instructed to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and that duplicate or ineligible entries are removed. The verification process also covers the entries of deceased voters, those who have relocated, or voters absent for extended periods. In Faridabad, this activity is being conducted in NIT, Badkhal, Faridabad, Ballabgarh, Prithla, and Tigaon constituencies in a phased manner.

After field verification, all updated lists will be submitted to the Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, who will review them and issue necessary instructions for finalizing accurate and transparent voter rolls ahead of the upcoming elections.
