Good News for Delhi Residents: CM Rekha Gupta Approves ₹327 Crore Development Plan for Slum Areas

On Republic Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta invited representatives from the city’s slum communities to the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sadan to inaugurate development projects worth ₹327 crore. The CM shared a meal with the slum representatives and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving living standards.

The approved initiatives include constructing public utility complexes and cemented roads in slum areas. Of the total sanctioned amount, ₹144 crore worth of projects have already been awarded. Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, and DSIB CEO Rupesh Thakur were present at the event.

CM Gupta emphasized that unlike previous administrations, which treated slum dwellers as a vote bank, the current government aims to provide them respect, basic facilities, and a better quality of life. She highlighted that the government has earmarked ₹700 crore for slum development, covering housing, sanitation, health, and social welfare.

The comprehensive plan also includes improvements to drains, roads, toilets, parks, and community centers. For public utility complexes alone, 476 projects have been approved with ₹225 crore, of which ₹81 crore has been allocated for 214 projects. Under the cement-concrete road scheme, 254 projects have been sanctioned with ₹102 crore, of which ₹63 crore has been allocated for 172 projects.

CM Gupta stated that these initiatives reflect the government’s priority to uplift slum communities and ensure that the benefits of development reach the city’s most marginalized residents.
