Former Deputy CM’s Car Stuck in Massive Highway Jam; SHO Found Absent, SP Orders Immediate Transfer

A major traffic jam on the Lucknow–Kanpur Highway on Saturday evening triggered swift administrative action in Unnao after former Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma’s vehicle became stuck in the congestion. When Superintendent of Police Jay Prakash Singh discovered that the local Station House Officer (SHO) was absent from duty during the crisis, he immediately removed him from his post and transferred him to the Cyber Police Station.

Highway Jam Brings Traffic to a Standstill

The traffic situation worsened due to the heavy rush on the highway, as Saturday was considered an auspicious day for weddings. The congestion intensified when a truck broke down at the Azad Marg intersection, blocking vehicular movement. A crane was called to remove the truck, but it too malfunctioned, resulting in a severe traffic deadlock. Commuters remained trapped for hours.

Former Deputy CM Also Caught in the Snarl

At the same time, the convoy of former Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma, traveling from Kanpur to Lucknow, also got stuck in the jam. Sharma reportedly remained stuck for almost 30 minutes.

Upon receiving the information from the control room, SP Jay Prakash Singh, accompanied by ASP Akhilesh Singh, rushed to the spot. The officers supervised the clearing work themselves and eventually restored traffic movement.

SHO Missing from Duty, SP Acts Immediately

During the inspection, SP Singh found that Achu Lganj SHO Rajesh Pathak was not present at the site and was instead sitting in the police station despite the major traffic crisis unfolding on the highway. Pathak reached the location only after learning that senior officials had arrived.

SP Singh, expressing strong displeasure over the negligence, ordered the immediate removal of the SHO from his post. He has been transferred to the Cyber Police Station, while Cyber Station in-charge Brajesh Shukla has been appointed as the new SHO of Achalganj.

Jam Cleared After One Hour of Effort

Under the supervision of senior officials, it took nearly one hour to clear the jam and restore smooth traffic movement on the busy highway. The SP’s swift action has become a topic of discussion among local residents, many of whom welcomed the decision.
