FIR Filed Against BJP Leader Pritam Singh and Three Others in Hamirpur; High Court Hearing on 27 November

Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh: In a significant development, an FIR has been registered against former BJP district president Pritam Singh and three others on charges of assault and firing in the air. The move comes 30 days after the BJP leader went missing and is based on a High Court order. The case is scheduled for hearing in the High Court on 27 November.

Incident Background

Pritam Singh, a senior BJP leader and former district president from Rath town in Hamirpur, went missing on 19 October. Singh, a farmer and a prominent figure in the Lodhi community of Rath constituency, has contested four general elections. He also owns a petrol pump and other establishments in the region.

The incident that triggered the FIR occurred on the night of 18 October, when Naresh Verma from Badora village in Mahoba district, along with his friends Manoj, Ajay, Virendra, and Rajkumar, went to Singh’s petrol pump on the Rath-Hamirpur highway. A dispute over payment with petrol pump staff escalated into a physical altercation. Police arrived at the scene and took both parties, including Pritam Singh, to the Kotwali police station. After a night at the station and subsequent mediation the next day, all involved were released.

Missing Leader and Court Intervention

Since 19 October, Pritam Singh has been missing, prompting serious concerns from his family. His brother, advocate Veer Singh Rajput, alleged that Singh disappeared after being taken to the police station during the petrol pump dispute. The family fears for his safety.

Following these developments, the matter reached the High Court, which directed police to produce the missing BJP leader. The court hearing is scheduled for 27 November. Despite multiple hearings, police reportedly sought extensions for compliance.

FIR Details and Investigation

Naresh Verma filed a case in the SC/ST Court in Mahoba, accusing Pritam Singh, Raghavendra Singh, petrol pump manager Omkar, Surendra, and others of assault with sticks. Acting on the court’s order, the local police filed an FIR against the accused, and an investigation is underway under the supervision of CO R.P. Singh.

This incident has heightened tensions in the region, and authorities continue efforts to locate the missing BJP leader while investigating the charges against him and the other accused.
