Files Kept Pending, Lapse Exposed in Review Meeting; Deputy CM Hands Suspension Letters on the Spot

Patna:
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development & Housing Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has taken a tough stand against administrative laxity, ordering the immediate suspension of two officials for negligence and indiscipline in official duties. The action was taken after a key administrative file was found deliberately delayed and not presented within the stipulated time frame.

The suspended officials have been identified as Branch Officer Umeshwar Kumar Singh and Assistant Branch Officer Jitendra Kumar. The move sends a clear message across the department that delays, procedural lapses, and casual approaches to government work will not be tolerated.

Lapse Uncovered During High-Level Review Meeting

The issue came to light about a week ago during a high-level review meeting chaired by Deputy CM Vijay Sinha. During the meeting, the minister sought a file related to the alleged non-performance of Executive Officer Kumar Ritvik. However, officials failed to present the file on time, raising suspicions of intentional delay and negligence.

Taking serious note of the matter, the Deputy CM immediately ordered an internal inquiry to ascertain responsibility for the lapse.

Officials’ Reply Found Unsatisfactory

The inquiry report confirmed negligence and procedural violations on the part of both officials. Subsequently, the department issued show-cause notices to Umeshwar Kumar Singh and Jitendra Kumar, seeking explanations for the delay.

However, the replies submitted by the officials were found to be unsatisfactory. Acting swiftly, the Deputy CM directed their suspension with immediate effect.

Strong Message on Administrative Discipline

Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha stated that in a governance model focused on good governance, officers are expected to discharge their responsibilities with efficiency and integrity. Deliberately holding back important files or causing unnecessary delays in decision-making amounts to indiscipline and undermines public administration.

“The objective of this action is to fix accountability, ensure transparency, and improve work culture within the department,” the Deputy CM said.

The decisive move has sent a strong signal to government officials across departments that accountability and timely execution of duties are non-negotiable under the present administration.
