New Delhi: A fake statement attributed to BJP MP Manoj Tiwari is rapidly circulating on social media, falsely claiming that he made remarks on the rupee versus dollar issue. The misleading post even carries the Navbharat Times (NBT) logo to give it an appearance of authenticity.
Navbharat Times has confirmed that the post is 100% fake and an attempt to tarnish the credibility of a reputed media organization.
The Fake vs Real Statements
In the falsified post, Tiwari is quoted as saying:
“Our citizens carry rupees in their pockets for shopping. We have nothing to do with the dollar. Whether the dollar is expensive or cheap has no impact on our people.”
However, the authentic NBT post shows that Manoj Tiwari had actually commented on voter-related issues, stating:
“Illegal immigrants have been made voters, and genuine voters are facing obstacles. This is why there is opposition to SIR.”
How the Fake Post Was Made
The fake post mimics the NBT branding, including the logo, but careful inspection reveals differences in font, color, and design. The rupee symbol was incorrectly written, and the content itself was blurred, unlike the bright and clear text in the original post.
Fact-Check Confirms Fake News
Fact-checking tools also confirmed that the statement attributed to Manoj Tiwari is completely fabricated. The MP has never made such comments, and sharing such posts promotes misinformation. Some social media pages, even verified accounts, have been sharing the false statement without verification.
