Patna/Motihari: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on the second day of his Samriddhi Yatra, reached Motihari where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several development projects. During the visit, he also inspected an exhibition showcasing innovation, entrepreneurship, and livelihood initiatives, with special attention to stalls run by Jeevika Didis (women associated with the Jeevika self-help group programme).
After completing the official inaugurations, the Chief Minister moved towards the exhibition area, beginning his tour with a stall displaying indigenous drone technology. As he walked through the exhibition, he reached the stalls set up by Jeevika Didis, which visibly pleased him. “Even Jeevika Didis have their stalls here,” Nitish Kumar remarked with appreciation, drawing smiles from accompanying senior officials.
The first Jeevika stall showcased products made from cane, bamboo crafts, and dry flowers. The Chief Minister interacted with the women managing the stall and enquired about their work and earnings. He then proceeded to the second stall, which represented the Jeevika Agricultural Entrepreneur Service Centre, where he again spoke with the women and reviewed their activities.
At the third stall, which was a Jeevika Customer Service Point (CSP), officials explained how Jeevika Didis are providing banking services to customers of multiple banks. Through a symbolic cheque and demonstrations, the women highlighted the range of financial services they offer. Nitish Kumar expressed satisfaction and termed the initiative “a very good development.”
The Chief Minister then visited the fourth stall, which focused on the livestock-based Pashu Sakhi model under the Jeevika programme. He gathered information about ongoing schemes and their implementation. During the interaction, he also reviewed the progress of the Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme, under which women associated with Jeevika were earlier provided financial assistance of ₹10,000 each ahead of elections.
Praising their efforts, Nitish Kumar told the women, “You people are doing very good work,” reaffirming the government’s commitment to women-led livelihoods and grassroots entrepreneurship. The visit highlighted the growing role of Jeevika Didis in Bihar’s economic and social development.
