The Election Commission of India has released the draft voter list for Uttar Pradesh under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The announcement was made by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh, Navdeep Rinwa, who confirmed that approximately 2.89 crore names have been removed from the state’s electoral rolls. Citizens can file claims and objections between January 6 and February 6, 2026, ahead of the final voter list publication scheduled for March 6, 2026.
Following the SIR process, the voter list now comprises 12.55 crore registered voters. The revision identified 46 lakh deceased voters, 2.17 crore voters who had shifted residence, and 25.47 lakh voters registered at multiple locations. Over 81% of voters returned signed forms for the revision, while 18% did not respond.
Lucknow tops the list of deletions, with 12 lakh names removed, followed by Prayagraj (11.56 lakh), Kanpur Nagar (9 lakh), Agra (8.36 lakh), Ghaziabad (8.18 lakh), and Bareilly (7.14 lakh). Other notable districts include Gorakhpur (6.45 lakh), Sitapur (6.23 lakh), and Jaunpur (5.89 lakh).
Voters are urged to check their names and ensure the details are accurate. If there are discrepancies in the draft list, they can raise objections at their respective BLO offices by February 6.
To check your name in the draft voter list, visit the Election Commission of India’s official website: https://www.eci.gov.in, click on “Search Your Name in E-Roll”, and enter your EPIC number and state.
This systematic revision aims to ensure that the voter list is accurate, updated, and free from duplications or outdated entries, strengthening the democratic process in the state.
