Do the SIR or Get Out of the Country”: Woman in Firozabad Alleges Brother Faked Property Papers

Firozabad: In a shocking case highlighting misuse of government schemes, a woman in Firozabad has accused her brother of coercing her into signing property papers under the pretext of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program. The woman claims her brother then illegally registered her house and shop in his name. She has approached the court seeking cancellation of the registry.

The accused, Sarṭāj Khānm, resides in the Nala Chūnpachān area under Nai Ki Mandi police station in Agra district but had been living in Gurugram, earning a living as a tailor. She had recently purchased a house and a shop in Firozabad, located between Rasoolpur police station and Nalbandh Chowrah.

Sarṭāj, who is illiterate and only knows how to sign her name, said her brother summoned her from Gurugram, claiming that “SIR work is ongoing” and that she needed to complete her documents at the local tehsil. He allegedly threatened her, saying that if she did not comply, she could be expelled from the country.

Under this pretext, her brother reportedly tricked her into signing the property documents, which he then registered in his name. During the process, she was asked whether she was gifting the property, but being uneducated, she did not understand the implication of a “gift.”

Upon discovering the fraud, Sarṭāj wrote to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), requesting that the registry be nullified and the property returned to her.

This case raises serious concerns about the misuse of government programs and the vulnerability of illiterate citizens to familial and legal exploitation.
