Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s Last Words Before Tragic Plane Crash; Post Later Deleted from X

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar passed away in a plane crash on Wednesday morning near Baramati in Pune district. He was traveling to attend a public rally. Tragically, all passengers on board the aircraft lost their lives.

Final Post Before the Tragedy

Shortly before the accident, Ajit Pawar shared a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, paying tribute to the great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary. In the post, Pawar wrote:

“On the birth anniversary of the eminent freedom fighter and ‘Punjab Kesari’ Lala Lajpat Rai, who sacrificed his all for the nation’s independence, I offer my humble tribute. His patriotism will continue to inspire us. Lala Lajpat Rai passed away in October 1928 from severe injuries sustained during a police baton charge while leading a peaceful protest against the Simon Commission.”

The post, however, was later deleted, reportedly by his team following the news of his untimely death. Currently, the last official repost on his X account is from the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office.

Tragic Incident During Landing

The plane crashed while attempting to land in Baramati, shocking the entire state. Ajit Pawar, one of Maharashtra’s longest-serving Deputy Chief Ministers, was often referred to by his critics as the “permanent Deputy CM” for his extended tenure.

Political Journey and Achievements

Ajit Pawar began his political career in 1982 when he was elected to the board of a sugar cooperative. Over the years, he carved a prominent position in Maharashtra politics, handling key portfolios such as Irrigation, Finance, and Water Resources. He was first elected as an MLA in 1991 and consistently represented Baramati in the state assembly.

In 2019, Pawar briefly broke away from the NCP to form a government with BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, an alliance that lasted only three days but strengthened his political stature. He later served as Deputy CM in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government and again in the Shinde-BJP coalition after 2023.

Family

Ajit Pawar is survived by his wife Sunita Pawar and two sons, Jai and Parth Pawar. He initially won the Baramati Lok Sabha seat in 1991 but later vacated it for his uncle Sharad Pawar. He has been elected seven times from the Baramati Assembly constituency, establishing a long-standing legacy in Maharashtra politics.
