Delhi’s Yamuna Crossing Area to Get Major Boost with ₹728 Crore Development Plan

New Delhi: The Yamuna Crossing (Yamunapar) region, home to nearly a third of Delhi’s population, is set for a major transformation as the Yamuna Crossing Area Development Board approved development projects worth ₹728 crore on Thursday. The meeting, chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, greenlit budgets for roads, sewage, drainage systems, and other infrastructure projects, signaling the rapid acceleration of development in the area.

CM Rekha Gupta Highlights Priorities
Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that budget constraints will not impede development. She instructed the board members to prioritize projects based on necessity, ensuring a balanced approach that addresses both urban beautification and essential civic needs. “The development of the trans-Yamuna region is among the Delhi government’s top priorities. Our goal is to make Yamunapar a place where people choose to live and work,” Gupta said. She stressed immediate attention to road repairs, drainage improvements, and safe commuting, to prevent inconvenience and accidents for daily commuters.

Board Leadership and Support
The board meeting was attended by Chairperson Arvinder Singh Lovely and Minister Kapil Mishra. Arvinder Singh Lovely thanked the Chief Minister, noting that proposals presented by all local legislators are crucial for improving the area’s infrastructure. He added that work on approved projects will begin promptly, while Minister Mishra highlighted that reviving the board is a decisive step toward rectifying long-standing developmental neglect in Yamunapar.

Dedicated Development Fund to Ensure Faster Execution
During the previous government’s tenure, the Yamunapar Development Board was largely inactive, leaving legislators dependent on their MLA funds for local projects. With the board now reactivated, development in the 16-assembly constituency region will be streamlined, backed by a separate dedicated fund in addition to existing MLA allocations. This move is expected to accelerate infrastructure improvements and meet the growing civic needs of the Yamunapar population.

Chief Minister Gupta reaffirmed the government’s commitment, stating that all sanctioned works will be executed without budgetary limitations, marking a new phase of rapid and coordinated development for Yamunapar.
