New Delhi: In a major move to strengthen Delhi’s ongoing cleanliness campaign, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has issued directives to ensure all garbage collection vehicles are monitored via GPS, while ministers will also conduct on-ground inspections to oversee operations.
On Friday, CM Gupta visited various areas in Tehkhand and Tughlakabad, inspecting waste-sensitive zones, proposed C&D (Construction & Demolition) garbage collection points, and upcoming FCTS (Fixed Compactor Transfer Stations). She emphasized the need for strategically located collection points and a transparent, timely waste management system.
Strengthening Waste Management Infrastructure
During her visits, the CM assessed ongoing projects and instructed officials to reinforce Delhi’s waste management framework. She called for efficient cleaning at hotspots prone to garbage accumulation, focusing on dust control, wall-to-wall road cleaning, mechanical sweeping, water sprinkling, and immediate waste disposal. Modern compactors, organized collection points, and machinery should be leveraged to reduce manual labor, she added.
Ministers to Oversee On-Ground Operations
In a follow-up to a recent cleanliness meeting, CM Gupta directed ministers to inspect street-level sanitation at least once daily, starting Saturday. This initiative aims to ensure real-time accountability and proper execution of the campaign.
Strict Action Against Negligence
CM Gupta also visited the Rajesh Pilot Veterinary Hospital in Tughlakabad to inspect cleanliness and animal care facilities. She issued strict orders to hospital authorities for maintaining hygiene and infrastructure, warning that negligence would not be tolerated. Staff and doctors were reprimanded where necessary, and repair works were immediately directed to improve conditions.
Key Directives at a Glance:
- Inspection of cleanliness drives and waste management in Tehkhand and Tughlakabad.
- Implementation of GPS monitoring for all garbage collection vehicles.
- Regular cleaning of waste hotspots, including mechanical sweeping, water sprinkling, and dust control measures.
- Strengthening waste collection points and reducing manual load through modern compactors and machinery.
With these measures, the Delhi government aims to enhance efficiency, accountability, and environmental hygiene across the capital, ensuring a cleaner and healthier city for its residents.
