Darbhanga:
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday showered Darbhanga with development initiatives worth over ₹138 crore during the second phase of his Samriddhi Yatra, signalling a major infrastructure push for the Mithilanchal region. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for projects worth ₹105 crore and inaugurated schemes costing ₹33 crore, covering roads, transport, education, health, and employment.
Beginning his visit soon after landing at Darbhanga airport, Nitish Kumar personally reviewed the progress of key projects, including the under-construction hi-tech bus terminal at Delhi More, the upcoming airport terminal building, and the ambitious Amas–Darbhanga four-lane road project.
Modern Bus Terminal to Redefine Urban Transport
One of the flagship projects reviewed by the Chief Minister was the state-of-the-art bus terminal being built at Delhi More at a cost of ₹88.78 crore. Scheduled for completion by December 14, 2027, the facility is expected to significantly upgrade public transport infrastructure and ease congestion in the city.
At the site, Nitish Kumar also reviewed models of 11 major development schemes, assessing the status of announcements made during earlier review visits.
Faster Connectivity, Better Opportunities
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary highlighted the transformation in connectivity, stating that travel time between Patna and Darbhanga has been reduced from nearly seven hours to just two to two-and-a-half hours. He added that improved infrastructure and employment generation would reduce the need for migration of labourers to other states.
Airport Expansion and Night Landing Soon
The Chief Minister inspected the under-construction civil enclave and terminal building at Darbhanga Airport. According to District Magistrate Kaushal Kumar, structural work on the terminal is expected to be completed within a month. Installation of CAT-II lighting is underway and is scheduled for completion by March 2026, after which night landing operations will commence — a long-standing demand of the region.
Roads, Logistics and Industrial Push
Nitish Kumar also reviewed progress at the Amas–Darbhanga road project’s camp office, a key four-lane corridor aimed at boosting regional connectivity. He further inspected land identified for a logistics park and cargo hub, underscoring the government’s focus on economic and industrial development in north Bihar.
Vision for 2025–2030: ‘Saat Nischay-3’
Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating and laying foundation stones at Nagendra Jha Stadium, the Chief Minister outlined the government’s roadmap under Saat Nischay-3 for the period 2025–2030. He announced large-scale initiatives focused on employment generation, women empowerment, education, healthcare, agriculture, industrialisation, and infrastructure expansion.
Nitish Kumar reiterated the government’s target of providing one crore jobs and employment opportunities to youth over the next five years, strengthening women-led enterprises through financial assistance, expanding dairy and fisheries, setting up industrial zones in every district, and establishing model schools and degree colleges in all blocks.
Health, Education and Social Welfare in Focus
The Chief Minister announced plans to upgrade all Community Health Centres into specialised hospitals and develop Darbhanga Sadar Hospital into a super-specialty facility. He also highlighted improvements in electricity supply, road connectivity, drinking water access, and sanitation, recalling the drastic turnaround since 2005.
Centre’s Support Driving Bihar’s Growth
Nitish Kumar acknowledged the Centre’s continued support, citing special financial assistance announced in the Union Budgets of 2024 and 2025 for roads, airports, flood control, tourism, and the proposed Makhana Board. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for backing Bihar’s development initiatives.
A Growing Darbhanga, A Rising Bihar
With massive investments in transport, aviation, logistics, education, and healthcare, Darbhanga is emerging as a key growth hub in north Bihar. The Chief Minister asserted that sustained development efforts would propel Bihar into the league of India’s most developed states, contributing significantly to the nation’s progress.
