Jaipur/Banswara: Rajasthan veteran leader Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya is once again making headlines. Hours after announcing his return to the Congress party, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids on his petrol pumps and crusher plant, sparking political buzz.
Highlights:
- Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya continues to dominate news headlines.
- ACB raids follow shortly after his return to Congress.
- Separate teams raided two petrol pumps and a crusher plant.
The ACB teams carried out searches at Malviya’s two petrol pumps and a crusher plant, located at different sites. Malviya had joined Congress just three days ago, after leaving the BJP. The timing of the raids has raised eyebrows, as no action was reported during his two-year tenure with the BJP. Questions are being asked about what prompted the ACB to act immediately after his announcement to rejoin Congress.
Reacting to the ACB action, Malviya stated that the raids are an attempt to exert pressure on him, but he remains undeterred. He emphasized that his petrol pumps operate “meter-to-meter” and all commissions are paid via cheques. He also asserted that the crusher plant is functioning strictly according to regulations. Malviya clarified that these actions will not affect his decision to return to Congress.
Locations of the Raids:
ACB teams searched the Bhairavji Kripa Filling Station in Kalinjara and another petrol pump in Bagidora, both operated by Malviya’s family. Later, a team raided the crusher plant in Moti Timbi, owned by his son, Prem Pratap Singh Malviya. Following this, an ACB team visited Malviya’s residence in Naharpura village, but had to retreat due to protests by hundreds of supporters. The ACB has not disclosed any findings from the raids. Additional SP Rishikesh Meena said the raids were carried out based on a confidential complaint.
Political Journey of Malviya:
Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya originally belonged to Congress, having served as a Lok Sabha MP once and elected four times as an MLA. In the November 2023 assembly elections, he won from Bagidora but resigned in March 2024 to join the BJP. He also contested the Lok Sabha elections on a BJP ticket but lost by 2.5 lakh votes. Now, citing ideological differences, he has returned to Congress, stating that the BJP was not the right fit for him.
