Congress Workers Ready to Retaliate, Will Showcase Strength: MP Tagore

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Jan 31: Emphasizing the Congress party’s claim over the Madurai North constituency ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Lok Sabha MP Manickam Tagore asserted that the party workers know how to “hit back.”

Responding to DMK legislator and Madurai Urban district secretary G. Thalapathi’s remark that the Congress lacked the strength even to appoint booth-level workers, Tagore said the party would soon organise a booth-level meeting in the constituency to demonstrate its presence and mobilise support.

“Don’t assume that Congressmen only know how to chant Vande Mataram. We also know how to respond firmly to our adversaries,” Tagore told reporters here on Friday.

The MP’s comments underline Congress’s efforts to assert itself in a constituency considered strategically important ahead of the state polls.
