Baran (Rajasthan): In a decisive victory, Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya emerged triumphant in the Anta Assembly by-election, defeating BJP’s Morpals Suman by a margin of 15,594 votes. Independent candidate Naresh Meena, who remained in second place for most of the counting rounds, slipped to third after the final round when the BJP candidate managed to surpass him by 159 votes—a narrow escape that saved the BJP from an embarrassing third-place finish.

Out of a total 1,83,099 votes polled, the results stood as follows:
- Pramod Jain Bhaya (Congress): 69,571 votes
- Morpals Suman (BJP): 53,959 votes
- Naresh Meena (Independent): 53,800 votes
All other candidates remained far behind with minimal votes.
Celebration in Congress Camp, Reactions from Leaders
Following the victory, Congress supporters celebrated across the constituency. PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra congratulated Bhaya, calling the win “a mandate of trust.” Meanwhile, BJP state president Madan Rathore acknowledged the results, stating that the party respects the people’s verdict.
Naresh Meena’s Reaction After Finishing Third
Independent candidate Naresh Meena, who lost the second position by a narrow margin, expressed disappointment but thanked voters for their support.
“Our fight was against corruption. Honesty has lost, corruption has won. But God is testing us. We will return stronger,” he said.
