Lucknow: Former minister and senior Congress leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui has resigned from the party, sending ripples through political circles in Uttar Pradesh. On Saturday, he announced his resignation from all party positions as well as from primary membership.
In his resignation letter, Siddiqui did not cite any specific political or organizational reasons, instead attributing his decision to “unavoidable circumstances.” Sources indicate that he had long been dissatisfied with the party’s functioning, feeling that his suggestions were not given due importance and that he was not assigned a proper role within the organization.
Impact on State Politics
Siddiqui, who has played an active and influential role in Uttar Pradesh politics for many years, has previously served as a minister and held key positions within both the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress. His sudden departure from the Congress has raised questions about his next political move, creating speculation in the state’s political landscape.
Resignation Letter Highlights
In his letter, addressed to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, former president Sonia Gandhi, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, UP in-charge Avinash Pandey, and state president Ajay Rai, Siddiqui stated that he was resigning from the Congress party, all responsibilities, and primary membership due to unavoidable reasons. He also mentioned that several other members listed alongside him would be leaving the party and requested the leadership to accept his resignation.
