New Delhi: The Congress Party has raised sharp questions after a high-level delegation from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) met with BJP leaders at the party headquarters in New Delhi. The meeting comes amid escalating tensions over the Shaksgam Valley dispute and ongoing Chinese incursions in the region.
Congress Demands Clarity
Congress leaders questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding answers on what they described as a “secret agreement” between the BJP and China. Leader Supriya Shrinet shared images of the meeting on social media, stating, “These are the same Chinese leaders who supported Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, where our soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice in Galwan. Yet BJP leaders are meeting them.”
Shrinet further questioned, “China is occupying territory in Ladakh and establishing villages in Arunachal Pradesh. What is this relationship called? Why has BJP endangered the nation? What secret pact exists between BJP and China? When will PM Modi show China the red line?”
Details of the Meeting
The CCP delegation was led by Sun Hyan, Deputy Minister of the CCP’s International Department, and included China’s Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong. BJP officials, including Arun Singh, General Secretary, held detailed discussions on “advancing inter-party dialogue” between the BJP and the CCP. According to Vijay Chouthaivale, head of BJP’s foreign affairs department, the visit was intended as a significant step to enhance communication and coordination between the major political parties of both countries.
Rising Concerns Amid Border Disputes
The meeting has sparked criticism from the opposition, given China’s continuing infrastructure and territorial advances in Shaksgam Valley and other sensitive border regions. Congress has accused the BJP government of inaction and diplomatic laxity, demanding a clear stance from the Prime Minister on China’s aggressive maneuvers in India’s northern borders.
As tensions simmer along the India-China border, opposition parties are closely monitoring any engagement that could affect national security and border policy, calling for transparency in high-level diplomatic and inter-party dialogues.
