Jaipur: Rajasthan’s Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena once again emerged at the center of political discussions after a rare and impactful midnight meeting with Congress MPs and MLAs. The meeting, held at Pant Krishi Bhawan on Monday night, focused on addressing multiple demands raised by farmers. Surprisingly, several Congress leaders openly praised Dr. Meena — an unusual moment in state politics where opposition leaders typically attack the government.
Many Congress representatives described the meeting as “the most positive discussion ever held” and expressed full confidence in the agriculture minister’s commitment toward farmers’ welfare.
Opposition Leaders Praise the Agriculture Minister
Opposition leaders appreciating a ruling party minister is a rare sight. But on Monday night, Congress MP Rahul Kaswan and several MLAs acknowledged Dr. Meena’s sensitivity and prompt action toward farmers’ issues.
Congress MLA Narendra Budania said the dialogue was “highly meaningful and conducted with complete transparency.” He added that in his long political career spanning Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and the state assembly, he had never witnessed such a constructive discussion in favor of farmers.
Churu MP Rahul Kaswan also lauded Dr. Meena, noting that the minister was “deeply sensitive towards farmers and quick in resolving their problems.”
Midnight Talks After Massive Tractor Rally
Earlier on Monday, thousands of farmers from Churu district began a tractor march toward Jaipur under the leadership of MP Rahul Kaswan. The rally was halted by police and administration around 20 km from Churu, after which the government proposed talks.
A high-level meeting was subsequently held at Pant Krishi Bhawan in Jaipur, continuing late into the night. Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena, Agriculture & Horticulture Secretary Rajan Vishal, and Commissioner Chinmayi Gopal held detailed discussions with farmer representatives.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with consensus achieved on every major issue raised by the farmers.
