Jaipur/Jodhpur: Amid Congress launching statewide protests over the Aravalli issue, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, accusing them of misleading the public. The Chief Minister alleged that it was during the Congress regime that the very definition of the Aravalli mountain range was altered, paving the way for large-scale illegal mining.
Reacting to Gehlot’s repeated statements targeting the BJP and the Centre, CM Bhajanlal Sharma said Congress leaders were now raising questions to divert attention from their own past actions.
‘Congress Left No Stone of Aravalli Unturned’
Addressing the Western Rajasthan Industrial and Handicrafts Festival at Ramlila Maidan in Jodhpur, where he was the chief guest, CM Bhajanlal Sharma sharply criticized the previous Congress government. He remarked that during Congress rule, “even the stones of Aravalli were not spared.”
He questioned who changed the definition of Aravalli in 2003–04 and again in 2009–10, asserting that Congress must answer how many mining leases were granted in the Aravalli region during its tenure. Drawing a sharp analogy, the Chief Minister said Congress was behaving like the proverb, “After eating a hundred mice, the cat goes on a pilgrimage.”
‘Ashok Gehlot Has Become a Twitter Master’
Taking a direct swipe at the former Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma referred to Ashok Gehlot as a “Twitter Master,” accusing him of remaining in the limelight by issuing statements on social media. He said Gehlot first tried to create panic over the SIR issue and is now doing the same over Aravalli to mislead the public.
“Despite all the noise, the SIR process was completed successfully,” the CM said, adding that his government would not allow even a single infiltrator to stay in Rajasthan.
Compare Development, Not Statements: CM to Congress
The Chief Minister urged Congress leaders to stop indulging in political rhetoric and instead compare development work. He claimed that during the five-year Congress tenure, fewer than 50 significant projects were completed, whereas his government had executed hundreds of development works in just two years.
Targeting Gehlot further, CM Bhajanlal Sharma said, “His magic worked for a long time, but it won’t anymore. What one sows, one must eventually reap.”
