CM Nitish Kumar Urges Woman Taking Selfie to Come Closer, Video Goes Viral

Patna: A 12-second video of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has gone viral on social media, showing him interacting with a woman attempting to take his selfie from a distance during a public event. In the clip, the CM is seen greeting people with folded hands when he notices the woman and gestures, saying, “Are, idhar aao na” (“Come here”). The woman responds by moving her camera slightly, indicating she prefers to stay at a distance.

The video, widely shared on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, has sparked discussions online. Many users commented on the hesitation of women approaching the CM despite his invitation. One user, Bhanu Nand, wrote: “Why are women scared of Nitish Kumar? He is asking her to come closer.” Another, Rizwan Ahmed, added: “Women seem cautious while taking selfies with him. The woman in this video preferred distance, yet the CM called her closer.”

This incident follows a recent controversy when CM Nitish Kumar lightly touched the hijab of Dr. Nusrat Parveen during a ceremony distributing appointment letters to Ayurvedic and Unani doctors. That act had triggered nationwide outrage and political debates, with some leaders defending him as a paternal gesture, while others demanded legal action.

Social media reactions to the latest video have been diverse. Some users joked about the CM’s age and past controversies, while others highlighted how women now appear cautious around him, referencing the previous hijab incident. Comments ranged from humorous to critical, reflecting the public’s mixed perceptions of the CM’s interactions with women.

The clip underlines how seemingly small moments in public life can quickly become a nationwide talking point, especially in the age of social media virality.
