Bhopal: As the Mohan Yadav government in Madhya Pradesh enters its second anniversary on December 13, political temperatures have sharply risen following a blistering attack by Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Jeetu Patwari. The Chief Minister has begun a comprehensive review of his government’s two-year performance, calling all ministers to present detailed reports of their departments along with a three-year action plan.
Despite the government highlighting its reforms and presenting selective review findings to the media, the opposition has not held back. Jeetu Patwari dismissed the review exercise as a mere “cosmetic audit,” questioning the credibility of a government-wide assessment without the Chief Minister first reviewing his own department.
Patwari cited a central Home Ministry assessment that allegedly ranks Madhya Pradesh’s Home Department—previously led by CM Mohan Yadav—as one of the most inefficient in the country. He demanded that the Chief Minister answer for what he called “glaring failures” under his leadership.
The Congress leader went on to list a series of allegations involving fake seeds, misuse of permits, collusion with insurance companies, and scathing observations by the CAG—none of which, he claimed, resulted in action against responsible ministers. He also accused the government of failing to trace nearly 50 lakh children missing from school records and claimed that corruption has risen in proportion to the increased state budget.
While the government has repeatedly asserted the removal of toll plazas across the state, Patwari countered that “every toll booth is still running,” questioning whether the transport minister would resign over the alleged misinformation.
Escalating his attack, Patwari labelled the BJP regime as a “40% commission government,” remarking, “The Chief Minister acts like Alibaba, and his ministers behave like forty thieves.” He challenged the ruling party to produce the name of even one MLA who could claim that developmental work in their constituency was free of bribes.
Concluding his statement, Patwari announced that the Congress would conduct its own public review of each government department.
