Chhindwara BLO Turns Up Drunk at Collectorate, Complains About Workload and Senior Officers

Chhindwara: An unusual incident took place late Tuesday evening at the Chhindwara Collectorate when an Assistant BLO (Booth Level Officer) arrived intoxicated, attempting to submit electoral forms to the District Collector. The officer, clearly under the influence of alcohol, raised complaints about excessive workload and alleged misconduct by a senior BLO, declaring that he would no longer perform his duties.

Carrying electoral forms in his hands, the BLO approached the Collector to hand over the documents. However, his erratic and disorderly behavior prompted staff and on-duty police personnel to escort him out of the premises. Even after being removed, he continued to mutter incoherently on the grounds for some time.

Before reaching the Collector’s office, the inebriated officer first appeared at the SDM office and then at the ADM office, where police had to intervene again to maintain order.

The incident occurred amid a special, intensive voter list revision campaign being conducted under the supervision of the Election Commission of India. According to administration sources, 91% of digitization work has been completed, and over 12.26 lakh electoral forms have already been distributed to voters under the guidance of Collector and District Election Officer Harendra Narayan.

Chhindwara is currently ranked 16th in the state in terms of voter list revision progress. Voter assistance centers across rural and urban areas are actively helping citizens complete the forms before the stipulated deadline.
