Celebrating 60 Years of Public Service: Sharad Pawar’s Daughter and Daughter-in-Law Share Rare Old Photograph

Mumbai, February 24, 2026: At the age of 85, Sharad Pawar, founder of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), continues to remain active in public life despite recent health concerns. Pawar was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune due to dehydration. This comes shortly after he completed 60 years in parliamentary and public service.

On this milestone, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and Pawar’s daughter, Supriya Sule, shared a rare old photograph from his early political journey.

Honouring a Six-Decade Legacy

Sunetra Pawar posted the photograph on February 22, writing:
“Respected Sharad Pawar Saheb completes a historic milestone of sixty years in public and parliamentary life. Starting his journey in 1967, he continues with the same energy and dedication. From the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly to the Parliament House, he has consistently earned the trust of the people by fulfilling varied responsibilities as a public representative. His guidance and inspiration remain a source of energy for all of us.”

Sharad Pawar began his political career with the Indian National Congress and later founded the Nationalist Congress Party on June 10, 1999. He was first elected as an MLA from Baramati in 1967.

Daughter Supriya Sule’s Tribute

Supriya Sule also shared the same photograph, noting:
“Today, February 22, marks the 60th year of Respected Pawar Saheb’s parliamentary career. Over these six decades, he has witnessed and participated in numerous historic events. He has taken oath six times as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, once in the Legislative Council, and has been elected seven times to the Lok Sabha and twice to the Rajya Sabha. This journey, which began in 1967, continues unexpectedly, supported by devoted colleagues, workers, and the unwavering trust of the people.”

Health Update

Sharad Pawar’s health has required brief hospitalizations over the past month. He was previously admitted on February 9, discharged on February 14, and is now again under medical care. Doctors have stated there is no cause for concern, and he is expected to return to Baramati soon.

Through this shared photograph and heartfelt messages, both Sunetra Pawar and Supriya Sule pay tribute to six decades of dedication, service, and the enduring trust of the people, marking an extraordinary journey in Indian politics.
