BSF Soldiers’ Bravery Keeps Nation Safe: Amit Shah Highlights Heroics at ‘Sindoor Van’ in Kutch

Ahmedabad/Kutch: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday addressed the Diamond Jubilee (Heerak Jayanti) celebrations of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Bhuj, Kutch, lauding the courage and dedication of BSF personnel. Speaking at the event, he said the BSF’s unwavering service ensures the safety of the nation and that its soldiers have set unparalleled examples of valor in all operations — from border protection to anti-terror missions and disaster relief.

Commitment to BSF Families and Future Strengthening

Amit Shah announced that the upcoming year will be dedicated to the families of BSF personnel, emphasizing the government’s commitment to further strengthen the force. “In the next five years, the government aims to elevate the BSF to new heights, making it one of the fastest-response forces in the world,” he said. During the 61st BSF Foundation Day, he paid homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in service to the nation, acknowledging that the country remains forever indebted to their sacrifice.

Tribute to Kutch’s Role in India-Pakistan War of 1971

Addressing the audience at the site now known as ‘Sindoor Van’, developed on land commemorating Operation Sindoor, Amit Shah recalled the historic role of the people of Kutch in past wars. He highlighted that during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, the Kutch region faced attacks on the Bhuj airstrip, which was vital for India’s defense operations. Remarkably, local women worked overnight to repair the airstrip, ensuring uninterrupted military operations — a story later immortalized in the Bollywood film ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’.

The Sindoor Van stands today as a tribute to the bravery and dedication of both BSF personnel and the local community, symbolizing the resilience and valor that continue to safeguard India’s borders.
