Meerut: Following the presentation of the Union Budget 2026-27 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 2, the opposition described it as disappointing. However, BJP MP Arun Govil struck back, saying that opposing everything is the opposition’s only strategy.
Speaking to the media, Govil said, “Their work is just to oppose everything. That is their strategy, their politics—nothing more.”
The budget has elicited widespread reactions across the country, from industry leaders to the general public. Experts and policymakers have highlighted its focus on strengthening the economy’s foundation for the future. Key areas emphasized include employment generation, infrastructure development, healthcare improvement, and support for MSMEs.
While opposition parties have criticized the budget, the ruling BJP considers it a significant step toward enhancing the country’s economic stability and growth. Govil’s remarks underline the party’s stance that the opposition is focused more on political point-scoring than constructive engagement with policy.
