Baran (Rajasthan): Just days after the results of the Anta Assembly by-election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing a major internal storm in Baran district. A controversial letter, allegedly written by defeated BJP candidate Morpal Suman, has gone viral, triggering intense political turmoil within the party.
The letter contains explosive allegations of “internal sabotage”, accusing senior leaders and influential party figures of working against the BJP candidate and indirectly helping the Congress. While the document has ignited fierce debate, Suman has now publicly distanced himself from the letter, adding a new twist to the controversy.
‘Defeated by Our Own, Not the Opposition’
In the viral letter, the defeat in Anta is attributed not to the strength of the Congress but to betrayal from within. The document claims that the BJP was “stabbed in the back” by its own leaders, who allegedly undermined the campaign at multiple levels.
The letter names several prominent figures, including individuals close to Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar, former MLA Hemraj Meena, former district presidents, and other local power brokers. According to the allegations, these leaders either openly or covertly supported the Congress candidate during the by-election.
Senior Leaders Named, Allegations Escalate
The list of accused leaders mentioned in the letter includes Anta Pradhan Prakhar Kaushal, Deputy Pradhan Dharmendra Yadav, Chairman Rameshwar Khandelwal, and BJP Kisan Morcha district president Mukesh Dhakad.
The letter further claims that delays in ticket distribution and resentment among aspirants severely damaged the party’s electoral prospects. It even levels accusations against the Election Commission observer, alleging a failure to act impartially—an assertion that has raised eyebrows across political circles.
Suman Denies Authorship, Party Confirms Receipt
The biggest twist came when Morpal Suman denied any knowledge of the letter, stating that he had neither written nor circulated it. In contrast, BJP district president Naresh Singh Sikrawar confirmed receiving the letter on WhatsApp and said it had been forwarded to the state leadership.
According to party sources, copies of the letter were addressed to the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister, and the BJP national president, indicating the seriousness of the claims and the intent to escalate the matter to the highest level.
Internal Rift Out in the Open
Whether the letter truly reflects Morpal Suman’s grievances or is part of a larger factional battle within the BJP remains unclear. However, the damage is already visible. What was once whispered within party corridors has now spilled onto the streets, exposing deep organizational fault lines.
As speculation mounts over the letter’s origin and intent, one thing is certain: this “letter bomb” has rattled the BJP—from Baran to Jaipur—and intensified scrutiny of its internal cohesion ahead of future electoral battles.
