The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has responded to its sweeping victory in the Maharashtra civic elections, taking a pointed dig at Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi hailed the party’s performance as a reflection of growing public acceptance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the NDA alliance.
Addressing the media, Trivedi said, “As everyone has seen, the BJP and our allies in the Mahayuti coalition have achieved a spectacular victory in the Maharashtra municipal elections. This demonstrates the increasing acceptance of the BJP and NDA under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.”
Trivedi Hits Back at Sanjay Raut
Responding to statements by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, Trivedi said, “Those who fail to maintain their alliances and break away from their partners have no right to make accusations against others.” He further urged Shiv Sena (UBT), which considers itself the successor of Balasaheb Thackeray, to introspect. “Balasaheb Thackeray was a symbol of Hindutva and the ‘Emperor of Hindu Hearts.’ Today, Shiv Sena (UBT) is part of a coalition that includes the Muslim League, whose members glorify terrorists,” Trivedi remarked.
Trivedi thanked the people of Maharashtra for their support, saying, “The unprecedented success of the BJP-NDA-Mahayuti in the elections of India’s—and Asia’s—largest municipal corporation, the BMC, is a testament to the faith the public has placed in us.”
Raut Questions Poll Conduct
Earlier, as results began to emerge, Sanjay Raut criticized the voting process in Mumbai, claiming serious discrepancies. “Thousands of names are missing from the voter list, including people who voted in the assembly elections. EVMs are malfunctioning, and the Election Commission is not hearing our concerns,” Raut alleged. He also questioned a meeting between BJP leaders and Election Commission staff during the code of conduct period and criticized early exit polls that indicated BJP victories, accusing the party of celebrating prematurely.
The exchange underscores the intensifying political battle following BJP’s historic win in the BMC elections, with both parties vying to control the narrative.
