BJP Holds Nearly ₹10,000 Crore in Funds, Audit Report Submitted to Election Commission Reveals

New Delhi: The annual audit report of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), recently submitted to the Election Commission, reveals that the party holds nearly ₹10,000 crore in cash and bank deposits.

In the financial year 2024-25, following the party’s election victories in Delhi (over AAP) and Odisha (over BJD), BJP’s election expenditure almost doubled, rising from ₹1,754.06 crore the previous year to ₹3,335.36 crore.

Net Fund Growth of ₹2,882.32 Crore
The report states that BJP’s accounts saw a net increase of ₹2,882.32 crore during 2024-25. By 31 March 2025, the party’s general fund stood at ₹12,164 crore, up from ₹9,169 crore the previous year. Nitin Nabin, newly elected BJP president, now has the authority to utilise these funds.

Election Expenses Dominate Spending
During 2024-25, BJP received ₹6,125 crore in donations, compared to ₹3,967 crore the previous year. The party also earned ₹634 crore as bank interest on fixed deposits, and claimed an income tax refund of ₹65.92 crore with an interest of ₹4.40 crore. Election-related expenses accounted for 88.36% of total expenditure.

Breakdown of Campaign Spending

  • Financial aid to candidates: ₹312.9 crore
  • Air travel (planes and helicopters): ₹583 crore
  • Electronic media advertising: ₹1,125 crore
  • Cutouts, hoardings, and banners: ₹107 crore
  • Print and other advertising: ₹897 crore
  • Rallies and campaigns: ₹90.93 crore
  • Meetings: ₹51.72 crore

The report highlights BJP’s significant investment in election campaigns, reflecting the party’s increased focus on political mobilisation and outreach.
