New Delhi: The BJP has launched a scathing attack on the Congress following a Delhi court’s decision granting relief to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.
BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, “Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are accused in this case and are out on bail. It would not be wrong to call them the most corrupt family—the so-called ‘fake Gandhi family.’ This is nothing but a ‘bail carriage.’”
Congress Demands Modi, Shah Resign
This reaction from the BJP came after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah resign following the court’s verdict. Kharge stated that the Delhi court had refused to take cognizance of the Enforcement Directorate’s chargesheet against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and five others in the money laundering case. He described the case as politically motivated harassment against the Gandhi family and said, “This case was filed out of political vendetta. There is nothing substantial, and no FIR was registered.”
Kharge added, “After this judgment, Modi and Shah should resign. This verdict is a slap on their faces. They should step down so that they do not harass people in the future.”
Congress Alleges Misuse of Investigative Agencies
Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi criticized the government for misusing investigative agencies, saying, “The National Herald case is proof of how agencies are exploited. There was neither any financial transaction nor any property transfer, so the question of money laundering does not arise. The case is motivated by malice and marked by carelessness. The court’s verdict yesterday reflects the ultimate authority of the Constitution, standing firm against political pressure.”
