Bihar Government Reviews 48 Projects; WRD Officers Directed to Inspect Five Sites Monthly

In a major review meeting, Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Thursday assessed the progress of 48 government projects across multiple departments, with a special focus on the Water Resources Department (WRD).

Monthly Field Inspections Mandated

Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit instructed WRD engineers to conduct field inspections of at least five ongoing projects every month. In addition, all officers were directed to personally review the status of all projects listed on the State Project Monitoring Group (SPMG) portal.

“The purpose of this initiative is to ensure transparency, track progress efficiently, and accelerate project implementation across the state,” the Chief Secretary said during the meeting. Officers were also asked to upload the latest GPS-enabled photographs of projects on the SPMG portal to maintain real-time monitoring.

48 Projects Across Departments Reviewed

The projects under review included 28 projects of the WRD, eight each under the Road Construction and Urban Development & Housing departments, and one each under Agriculture, Backward & Extremely Backward Classes, Public Health & Engineering, and Rural Development departments. Senior officials from all concerned departments were present and participated in the discussions.

Focus on Accountability and Progress

The meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary, emphasized detailed departmental reviews and set clear directives for the responsible officers. Regular field visits and progress documentation are now mandatory to ensure timely completion and accountability for state projects.
