Bihar: Dr. Nusrat Parveen to Join Duty Amid Hijab Controversy, Clarifies Position

Patna: After gaining national and international attention, the hijab controversy involving AYUSH female doctor Dr. Nusrat Parveen has finally reached a resolution. According to the Principal of the Government Tibbi College, Dr. Nusrat is not upset with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and will join her duties on 20 December at the Sadar Primary Health Center (PSC).

The incident, which took place during a job appointment ceremony in Bihar, sparked widespread debate across social media and political circles. While some opposition parties tried to politicize the matter, Dr. Nusrat’s college principal, Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, clarified that rumors suggesting she would not join her post were unfounded. Reports claiming she felt humiliated were also incorrect.

Dr. Nusrat to Report at Sadar PSC on 20 December
Dr. Rahman confirmed that Dr. Nusrat will officially begin her duties on 20 December (Saturday) between 10:00 and 11:00 AM at the Sadar Primary Health Center. She has also personally informed her colleague, Bilkis Parveen, of her joining schedule. This statement has put to rest all speculations about her reluctance to assume her responsibilities.

No Grievance Against Chief Minister
The Principal further stated that Dr. Nusrat holds no grievances against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and considers the incident a routine matter. She confirmed that she faced no mistreatment and that media reports suggesting otherwise are baseless. Her family has also denied any anger or protest, confirming that the controversy existed only at an external level.

Rejecting Communal Angle
Dr. Rahman emphasized that attempts to link the issue with religion or portray it as a Hindu-Muslim conflict are misguided. He clarified that even within the Muslim community, there was no anger regarding the matter. According to him, some individuals tried to exploit the incident for personal interests. Dr. Nusrat has now urged everyone to move past the controversy and focus on her professional responsibilities.
