Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Reviews Industrial Hub Development in Buxar; Inspects Ethanol Plant & PepsiCo Bottling Unit in Nawanagar

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday conducted an extensive review of the emerging industrial hub in Buxar’s Nawanagar region. He inspected major industrial units including oxygen and ethanol plants, as well as the PepsiCo bottling facility operated by Varun Beverages Limited. The visit marks a significant step in the state government’s plan to transform Nawanagar into a major industrial corridor.

Inspection of Key Industrial Units

Arriving at the Nawanagar helipad at 10:30 am, the Chief Minister spent nearly 25 minutes assessing the progress of various industrial establishments. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and local MLA.

Nitish Kumar first visited Varun Beverages Ltd, where he interacted with company officials and reviewed the beverage production process. He later inspected Bharat Plus Ethanol Pvt. Ltd., followed by SLMG Beverages Ltd., taking a close look at ongoing operations and production capacity.

The CM expressed satisfaction over the pace of development in the area. BIADA has earmarked around 150 acres of land in Nawanagar, out of which land has already been allotted to three companies, and some units have begun production.

Plan for SEZ Headquarters

During the visit, the Chief Minister reviewed proposals for constructing a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) headquarters at a cost of ₹102 crore, which is expected to generate 10,000 direct jobs. Officials briefed him on the blueprint for the SEZ, which will play a central role in promoting large-scale industrial activities in the region.

Security and administrative preparations for the visit were overseen by DM Vidyanand Singh and SP Shubham Arya, ensuring the inspection concluded smoothly.

Government Push for Industrial Growth

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who accompanied the CM, described the visit as “crucial for Bihar’s industrial expansion.” The government plans to establish major industrial facilities over 250 acres of land in Nawanagar (Buxar) and Bettiah.

In Nawanagar alone, 125 acres are being developed at a cost of ₹109 crore to establish the SEZ, equipped with world-class infrastructure and modern technology. The project has recently received approval from the central government.

Employment Opportunities to Rise

According to the Industries Department, both SEZ projects—estimated to cost ₹225 crore collectively—will focus on attracting investors by providing hassle-free facilities and multiple government incentives. Officials believe that once fully operational, the industrial zone will significantly enhance employment prospects for local youth and boost the region’s economic growth.

Local residents hope that Nitish Kumar’s review visit will accelerate industrial development in Buxar and strengthen Bihar’s push toward large-scale industrialization.
