Patna, Bihar: The “Bulldozer” issue reverberated through the Bihar Assembly on the fourth day of the winter session, as the opposition raised sharp questions over the state government’s eviction drive. RJD MLA Kumar Sarvjeet from Bodh Gaya took the floor, targeting Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary, asking why he was being dubbed ‘Bulldozer Baba.’
Opposition Raises Bulldozer Issue
During the session, Kumar Sarvjeet initially spoke in a lighthearted tone but soon launched a pointed critique at the Deputy CM. He noted that while Chaudhary’s son had been given a royal name, the media and public had started referring to him as ‘Bulldozer Baba’ due to the government’s demolition drives against encroachments from Patna to Begusarai and Gaya. The MLA expressed concern that such nicknames could tarnish the public image of Samrat Chaudhary and requested that the Deputy CM’s name not be linked to bulldozer actions against poor households.
Deputy CM Responds
Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, who had remained quiet during the opposition’s remarks, later responded firmly. He clarified that there was no ‘Bulldozer issue’ associated with him personally and that he is known simply as Samrat Chaudhary. He emphasized that all demolition drives were conducted under court orders and administrative directives, targeting illegal encroachments and mafias involved in land, sand, and liquor rackets. Chaudhary assured that the government’s actions are lawful, and no innocent or poor citizens are affected. He further highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, approximately 6 million families in Bihar have been provided with permanent housing and grain support, without discrimination based on caste or religion.
