Bihar Assembly: RJD Stages Walkout Over NEET Student-Darbhanga Rape Case; Minister Says Opposition “Confused”

Patna, Bihar: The Bihar Assembly’s budget session on February 10 witnessed intense chaos as opposition parties, led by the RJD and Congress, demanded answers from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar regarding the Patna NEET student case and the Darbhanga rape-murder case.

As the session began, RJD and Congress members raised slogans inside the house and waved placards reading “Bihar Number 1 in Rape, Modi-Nitish Responsible.” Despite repeated attempts by Speaker Prem Kumar to calm them, the opposition refused to settle.

Opposition Raises Sensitive Cases

The opposition insisted on getting responses from the Chief Minister on multiple high-profile incidents, including the Patna NEET student’s death and the Darbhanga rape-murder case. Even after assurances from the Speaker that their questions would be addressed during Zero Hour, opposition members continued their disruption.

Government Ready to Respond

Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, close to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, addressed the Assembly, stating, “The entire cabinet is present here to respond. The opposition can raise questions as per the rules, including serious and sensitive matters. The government is always ready to provide answers.”

Walkout Sparks Minister’s Remark

After repeated appeals from the Speaker, opposition members briefly returned to their seats but ultimately staged a walkout, boycotting the proceedings. Speaking afterward, Minister Chaudhary remarked, “It seems the opposition is confused. They came to raise questions, were requested to follow procedures, returned to their seats, and then walked out. This confusion is reflected in their disorganized behavior.”

The disruption highlighted the tense atmosphere in the Bihar Assembly as the opposition continues to push the government for accountability on sensitive law-and-order issues.
