
Bhopal: The newly constructed, state-of-the-art sports stadium in Bhopal is set to become a launchpad for the city’s future sports champions, nurturing talent for national and international competitions. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated several developmental projects on Tuesday and shared a long-term vision for the capital, with plans extending to the year 2048.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Yadav said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is continuously working for the welfare of the poor, farmers, women, and youth. In line with the PM’s vision for a developed India by 2047, the state government is actively contributing to development and good governance initiatives.
The modern sports complex, built on 9 acres in the Kolar area at a cost of ₹11.5 crore, will provide youth with top-notch training and practice facilities. The Chief Minister emphasized that the stadium will encourage young athletes to pursue sports professionally, turning the facility into a launchpad for future champions.
Dr. Yadav highlighted the government’s efforts to promote traditional sports such as Mallakhamb, Kabaddi, and Equestrian events, alongside modern disciplines like cricket, hockey, shooting, and water sports. He added that players winning medals at national and international events are being offered government jobs in prestigious positions, ensuring recognition and support for sporting talent.
In addition to the sports initiatives, Dr. Yadav inaugurated the new Sandipani School in Katara-Barrai, constructed at a cost of ₹29 crore, providing students access to modern education and resources. As part of the AMRUT 2.0 project worth ₹155 crore, various infrastructure works including 700 km of sewage network, 9 sewage treatment plants with 171 MLD capacity, and 1.21 lakh domestic sewage connections have been launched, benefiting around 7 lakh residents over the next three years.
Further announcements included a major sports stadium in Katara-Barrai named after Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, a new Dussehra ground on 16 acres in Kolar, and a new police station at Kajlikheda to strengthen law and order.
Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Vishwas Kailash Sarang praised the CM for promoting holistic development, balancing infrastructure, education, and sports. School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh added that the government continues to establish Sandipani schools across the state, providing modern education opportunities to students in every region.
Local MLA Rameshwar Sharma called the sports complex a “unique gift” for the youth, offering facilities for 18 different sports, and underscored the government’s commitment to the welfare of all sections of society under CM Dr. Yadav’s leadership.
