Ballia, Uttar Pradesh: Panic erupted at a wedding reception in Ramleela Maidan, Ballia, late Wednesday night when the stage hosting dozens of guests, including prominent leaders, suddenly collapsed under the weight.
BJP Leaders on Stage During Incident
The mishap occurred during the reception of Abhishek Singh, brother of BJP leader and engineer, when the bride and groom were seated on the stage. BJP District President Sanjay Mishra, former MP Bharat Singh, Bansdih MLA Ketki Singh’s representative Vishram Singh, former district secretary Surjeet Singh, and approximately 40–50 other leaders and party workers climbed the stage together to bless the newlyweds.
Stage Collapses Under Pressure
As the groom touched the feet of the visitors to receive blessings, the wooden stage suddenly gave way, tilting and collapsing to one side. The incident triggered screams and chaos among the attendees, creating a tense moment.
No Serious Injuries
Fortunately, the stage was not very high, and while everyone fell to the ground, no one sustained serious injuries. Only one worker suffered minor scratches. The bride and groom were immediately evacuated safely.
BJP Leader Comments on Incident
Sanjay Mishra stated, “Everyone was excited to give their blessings, and too many people climbed the stage at once. The stage was already weak and could not bear the weight. By God’s grace, no major accident occurred, and the bride and groom are completely safe.”
Video Goes Viral
The entire incident was captured on video and has been widely shared on social media since Thursday morning. The footage clearly shows the stage tilting and people falling, though the event resumed normally afterward, much to the relief of the guests.
