Jaipur: Following the decisive victory of the NDA and the defeat of the Grand Alliance in the Bihar Assembly elections, reactions from political leaders have been pouring in. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has voiced strong criticism, accusing the Election Commission of allowing the elections to be “hijacked” by the BJP.
Gehlot alleged that cash was openly distributed to voters, particularly women, during the election. “Women were given ₹10,000 each. Even as this was happening openly during polling, the Election Commission remained silent. This raises serious questions about the Commission’s role,” he said.
The former Congress chief also highlighted the party’s performance in Rajasthan, noting that while the Congress secured consecutive victories in the state, it faced a crushing defeat in Bihar. Gehlot’s statement underscores the party’s concerns about the fairness and transparency of the Bihar polls.
Recalling his tenure, Gehlot also took aim at the previous Bhajanlal government, claiming that none of its welfare schemes were initiated, while Congress-led welfare programs received nationwide recognition and praise. He added that the BJP has yet to appoint a national president in the last two years, whereas Congress remains fully united and ready to contest the NDA vigorously.
