Army of 10 Lawyers Mobilized to Save Parth Pawar in Pune Land Deal; Will He Escape Stamp Duty Penalty

Mumbai: The Pune land deal controversy involving Parth Pawar, son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has intensified, with an army of 10 lawyers now representing him to mitigate liabilities, including a potential ₹42 crore stamp duty. The case is being examined by a Revenue Department committee headed by Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge.

Parth Pawar’s firm, Amadia Enterprises LLP, requested an additional 15 days to respond to the notice issued regarding stamp duty payment for the Mundhwa land parcel. On the final day of the original notice, the firm approached the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) office, which had initially instructed the payment of ₹21 crore as stamp duty. The IGR granted a seven-day extension and senior officials will decide on the additional time request.

Legal Maneuvers:
A senior IGR official confirmed that a team of lawyers, authorized through official letters, appeared on behalf of the firm and stakeholders, including Digvijay Patil, requesting the extended time. The application has been accepted, pending a decision by senior authorities.

Background of the Deal:
The land transaction involves 40 acres in the prime Mundhwa area, with a sale value of ₹300 crore. Questions arose over irregularities in stamp duty exemptions since the land belonged to the government. Following the controversy, a case was filed against Digvijay Patil and a government officer, though Parth Pawar’s name does not appear in the FIR. Amid the political uproar, Ajit Pawar announced the deal would be canceled.

The IGR office investigation attributed irregularities to Patil, Sheetal Tejwani (power of attorney holder), and Deputy Sub-Registrar Ravindra Taru (who executed the land documents). Parth Pawar, while linked to the firm, currently faces no direct allegations.
