Lucknow, January 19:
A recent Instagram post by Prateek Yadav, younger son of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, announcing his separation from BJP leader Aparna Yadav has sparked widespread discussion—not only about their personal lives but also about their financial standing.
While Aparna Yadav has not yet reacted publicly to the divorce announcement, details from election affidavits have once again brought the couple’s wealth into the spotlight.
Political Background
Aparna Yadav joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2022 after leaving the Samajwadi Party. She is currently serving as Vice Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission. In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, she contested from the Lucknow Cantonment seat on an SP ticket but lost to BJP candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi.
Assets Worth Over ₹23 Crore
According to affidavits submitted to the Election Commission, Aparna Yadav and Prateek Yadav together own movable and immovable assets worth approximately ₹23 crore.
Aparna Yadav has declared movable assets worth about ₹3.27 crore, while Prateek Yadav’s movable assets stand at around ₹13.41 crore. These include bank deposits, shares, and other financial investments.
A key highlight of Aparna Yadav’s assets is her jewellery collection, valued at nearly ₹1.88 crore, reflecting her known fondness for precious ornaments.
Luxury Cars and High-Value Loans
Interestingly, Aparna Yadav does not own a car, as per her affidavit. In contrast, Prateek Yadav owns a Lamborghini valued at approximately ₹5.23 crore, which he purchased in 2016. For this luxury car, he took a loan of ₹4.5 crore from Union Bank of India.
The couple’s income tax returns for 2015–16 show that Aparna Yadav declared an income of ₹50.18 lakh, while Prateek Yadav reported an income of ₹1.47 crore.
Property, Liabilities, and Family Loans
In terms of immovable assets, Aparna Yadav owns agricultural land and residential property worth about ₹12.5 lakh. Prateek Yadav, on the other hand, has immovable assets valued at around ₹6.15 crore.
When it comes to liabilities, Aparna Yadav has outstanding dues of ₹8.54 lakh. Prateek Yadav’s liabilities are significantly higher, amounting to ₹8.07 crore. Notably, this includes a loan of ₹81.5 lakh taken from his elder brother and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Who Is Richer?
While Aparna Yadav’s wealth is marked by high-value jewellery and comparatively lower liabilities, Prateek Yadav’s profile features luxury assets, large investments, and substantial loans. On paper, Prateek Yadav appears wealthier in terms of total asset value, though his liabilities are also considerably higher.
As the personal developments continue to unfold, the financial disclosures offer a rare glimpse into the contrasting lifestyles and asset profiles of two prominent political figures from Uttar Pradesh.
