Akhilesh Yadav Alleges BJP-EC Conspiracy to Manipulate 50,000 Votes Through SIR Ahead of UP Assembly Elections

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in collusion with certain officials of the Election Commission, is preparing to cut 50,000 votes in areas where the INDIA alliance won in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Speaking at a press conference at the party office, Yadav claimed widespread irregularities during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Allegations Against BJP and Election Officials

Akhilesh Yadav stated that party sources and workers have reported troubling developments. Several Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are reportedly not cooperating in the voter verification process. In some areas, BLOs are allegedly avoiding duties, leaving mistakes unresolved and affecting the integrity of voter records.

“The voter list revision is being manipulated. After BJP’s defeat in the 2024 elections, their primary focus is Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The goal is to reduce votes in constituencies won by the INDIA alliance,” Yadav said.

He further recalled that in the 2022 Assembly elections, voter names were deliberately deleted, causing losses to the SP. Similar irregularities were observed during the Ramapur Lok Sabha by-election, where complaints to the Election Commission went unaddressed.

Massive Vote Deletion Alleged

According to Yadav, more than 50,000 votes are at risk in areas where SP or the INDIA alliance secured victories in 2024. “This is a planned strategy under the guise of SIR in Uttar Pradesh,” he warned.

He urged party workers and supporters to proactively check voter lists, coordinate with BLOs, and report any discrepancies immediately to the party office. “Attempts to manipulate voter lists to influence elections will not be tolerated. We expect fairness from the Election Commission, but recent experiences have eroded confidence,” he added.

The SP chief emphasized that the party will fight this issue at every level, from street protests to constitutional forums.
